Hello everyone!
As I've said previously, I will showcase emerging artist that deserve some recognition. I'm pretty excited about this week's artist, since she not only has talent, but her story is just as touching.
Spotlight Artist of the Week: Rebekah Ann Curtis
Writing from the age of ten, music has clearly been a part of her. She's been singing most of her life and found inspriations from th grunge rock movement from her native Seattle, Washington. Her sound seems to fit right in with the now popular singer/songwriter genre that has sprung up in recent years, giving her own take on love, life, friendship and what it all means.
Being her first venue into music professionally, she's penned ten songs, one in particular for her friend. Bryon's Song is her tribute to a dear friend that died of cancer. It's one of the highlights of the album, penetrating the usual ballad with an ode to him. Fortunately, she has a few lighter songs including Beautiful Day and Sweet Love, that could easily bounce of the walls on a Sunday morning.
What I find about this album that is extraordinarly different is that 25% of the proceeds are going to an extremely good cause. In honor of her friend, she has partnered with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, whom took care of her friend and she is a strong believer of their work. For this alone, I support her and I strongly suggest to give her album a chance. If you enjoy such artists as Ingrid Michaelson or Sara Bareilles, I think you'll find her music worth your time.
Choice Tracks: Rain Down or Sweet Love
